BUDDHIST KALACHAKRA STUPA KBL

It was the beginning of Autumn when I was “ plonged” in the computer trying to organise a trip to Orini Korinthia.
Google earth showed one image after the other when suddenly a photograph popped up on my screen from the Far East a BOUDDHIST STUPA.
I was just been affected by the virus of investigation for this unknown greek site.
The research for information , the attempt of contacting the Buddhists and the planning of a safe excursion of the team took a long time.
So this excursion was planned for mid March.

It was a sunny Sunday after a tatty week of bad weather , the T-Motoriders started arriving with the bikes at the meeting point.
At Xylocastro the first regrouping took place where more members were waiting for us .The team grew bigger. We started heading to korinthian Trikala and Rethi. Our itinerary would be Rethi - Sofiana - Spartineika - Lagatheika.
After Sofiana the road got dangerously narrow. A lot of soil and stones were in our way due to the previous heavy rain. Some hairpin bends were full of water from the nearby springs making us seem as horse riders galloping through the small river to the opposite side.
We continued riding. The scenery was outstanding . The mountain ahead of us ,a part of Ziria, was impressive . You had to look straight up to see the summit which was playing hide and seek with the clouds. It’s steep cliffs covered with snow seemed like a cake sprinkled with icing sugar . We were absorbed by the beauty of nature….
When we passed Lagatheika the tarmac road changed to a dirt track with red mud .We had 1,3 kms left to reach our final destination.
After the first 500 metres the scenery suddenly changed. The road was leading us at a huge landscape on the mountain which was covered with snow. The tree ‘ s branches were also covered with snow. The muddy road seemed like an abstract painting .
The T-motoriders continued cautiously for a while and parked their “horses” not believing the beauty of nature as a few metres before nothing could indicate this wonderful scenery.
We were magnetised by the golden top of the STUPA which started peeping behind the rocks. Built in a private area near the village Lagatheika at an altitude of 1.270 m with roads unsuitable even for motorbikes. Although it was March there was snow.
The representative Mr Jan Noutsos welcomed us and looking astonished could not believe that 40 people with motorbikes under the bad weather circumstances arrived there.
A different religion was there in front of us
So the diamond way buddhism passes through Greece . They founded KARMA BERCHEN LING (KBL) 30 years ago and only just in 2010 they were able to make a BUDDHIST STUPA or as it is called KALACHAKRA STUPA . At the inauguration on the 23rd of August 2010 people from 38 countries came. This year on the 23rd of August 2015 at 9 a.m. it’s the fifth anniversary and last celebration of the opening ceremony. People will come again from all over the world.

We never could imagine that here in Greece we would ever see something similar. Are we a country which embraces different cultures and faiths and we have not realised it ?
KALATSACRA STUPA was built and filled with the follower’s aura but not only with this. Prayers, holy objects and Saints bones are inside the stupa.
It reminds us of our religion when we build a church we also have Saints relic and say prayers.
Outstanding with 7,5 m height this KALATSACRA STUPA is the 10th in the world and according to the Buddhists it has great protective power .It is positioned at the southern tip of Europe to protect our freedom.
I always was under the impression that Buddhist meditation uses more than any other religion the power of mind.We do not know why the Buddhists chose this specific place in order to build their stupa . Maybe some claim that it is in a triangle with the ancient Olympia and Delphi .Lama had a vision when he first saw this area.

BUDDHIST STUPAS are temples that are built to bring peace to the world. Their spiritual influence is very powerful. All the religions seek to learn from the buddhist way of life.
You just stand there and admire. What’ s certain though is that up there on top of the mountain with a view to the Korinthian gulf there is a strange good vibration . A positive vibration due to the followers . You can feel the vibration in the air although you may not believe in Buddhism. The Greek STUPA is considered to be the best meditation place in all Europe.
We did not take a photograph with our motorbikes at the temple as we respected the holiness of the place. We were in a good mood we had our positive vibes .

When we had our photos taken , we were offered hot mountain tea.It was exactly what we needed to warm up ourselves as it was so cold. We started getting ready to leave but we could not take our eyes off the beautiful view.
Very carefully , as we slipped at some points we descended the mountain giving a promise that we would come soon under better weather conditions.

The road was leading at the Korinthian Trikala.Lunch time had arrived.
At Messaia Trikala at George’ s and Vassiliki’ s tavern we were expected. From the large windows we could see the whole village covered with snow .The food was excellent different kinds of meat on the charcoal .The lovely rose wine was colouring our taste. A gastronomic meditation had just begun.

Laughter, teasing and all the goodies at the table completed another excursion of the T- motoriders, one of those that stays in your memory and you never want it to end .
The appointment for the next excursion had been given .
